“Once again I have lost my purse.  Yeah , I know, if you want to find something ask the blind guy.”

“Honey why don’t you put your purse in the same place all the time, I don’t  mind helping but this is getting tiresome “ he replied.

“Yesterday and the day before yesterday   I am always losing it and it gets frustrating “ she said.

“Put it the same place”

“Where?  thats my problem I have no place to lay it down or hang it up, she complained, just no place at all.  I use what ever place is handy then forget where it was.  I feel like I’m in a revolving door, stuck, just going round and round and accomplishing nothing”

“I don’t mind helping but your right about where to put the purse.  Why don’t we make a shelf or hang a hook for it?”

 In Paris

“Pierre, were you in Paris yesterday?”

“Oh yes, I was there,” he said looking sad.

“What is your opinion on the matter?” The English man asked.

“We have government coming in and going out like a dance revolving around a central figure.”

“I was detained and could not attend. Were many people there?”

“The streets were lined with crowds. You could not imagine. There must have been a hundred, no maybe 200,000 people. I have never seen so many blood thirsty people in my life. Some cursed thief even stole my purse. I thought that leather sack was well hidden.”

“Now to get back to the main event, as we might call it, how was that?”

“Bloody damn awful, as you British say. It is something I never want to witness again. That damn guillotine is one hell of an instrument.”

November 10, 2015 -Prompt-A Box of Blackmail

Delivery

The UPS truck delivered a box without a return address. Inside I found a pair of eye glasses, not mine, I thought but I tried them on anyway. Whoa that’s a strong prescription. I placed them back in the box. There was a jar wrapped in newspaper that stuck to it because the contents had leaked out. I sniffed at it, then put my finger to my mouth. Hmm that’s honey, I guessed. The biggest item in the box was a hacksaw placed diagonally. I struggled to get it out. When it released, I discovered a note that dangled from the handle. A second box will follow soon. Beware, you owe me big money. I will collect. Who am I?

After pondering long and hard, thinking back–ten years back, I knew this had to be the surgeon with thick glasses, nicknamed Sawbones. He pretended to be sweet as honey  in those days and the doctor and I had done shady business together.

                 CONSEQUENCES

The doorbell rang – just once.  When I opened the door the only thing I saw was a small box wrapped in plain brown paper. Printed on it was my name.

“What the hell?”  I tried to be quiet.  Karen, my wife was asleep in the guest bedroom.  I didn’t want to awaken her.

In the kitchen I peeled back the paper and reached inside the box.  The first thing I found was a pair of my spectacles.  The pair that I had forgotten a week ago in a hotel room.  Also in the box were the remains of the jar of honey that I had spread over my lover’s body in that same room.

The third and final item was a blackmail message from my wife.  The solitary hacksaw spoke volumes  about the certainty of my fate should I continue on the same ill advised path.

November 3, 2015- Prompt – Stolen Pet

Some one had stolen your pet! In its place are two objects what happens next?  The objects are a flashlight and four dice.

*****

When Jordon got home from school, she went to the kitchen for a snack. Grabbing two cookies and a bottle of milk, she walked out to the back yard to check on her dog Penny.  Penny was so named because of the copper color of her fur.  “Penny, Penny, come here!” No Penny turned up anywhere. She walked to Penny’s bed to check her food and water.  In her bed was a flashlight and four dice.  She picked up the dice. On the dice were words written with a sharpie.  Don’t-Worry-I’m-Safe. Well, that wasn’t much comfort. The flashlight had a note. ‘’Use me when you need me.”  What could that mean?  Jordon called her mom and told her what had happened. Her mom told her to check in the basement. Jordon took the flashlight and headed down the stairs.  She opened the door and turned on the flashlight.  Penny came running to the door, shaved and glowing pink in the light.  HOMECOMING PRANK!
